CRICELLI CHOSEN CACC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

CALDWELL,
N.J. - Caldwell College freshman forward Sam Cricelli (Brighton,
England/Culham)
was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the
Week for the
week ending Dec. 17, the league announce today. Cricelli helped the
Cougars earn a conference win over Wilmington College on Saturday,
Dec. 16.
Cricelli, a 6-7 forward, tallied a career-high 19 points on 9-of-14
shooting from the field as Caldwell defeated the Wildcats, 83-76 in the
George R. Newman Center. He also had six rebounds and two steals in the
win, which snapped a two-game losing streak. On the season, Cricelli is
averaging 9.2 points and 6.2 rebounds while shooting 50.0 percent from
the field.
Cricelli becomes the first Caldwell men's basketball player to receive
the conference's Rookie of the Week honor since the CACC began the award
at the start of the 2005-06 season. Also earning honors this week were
junior forward B.J. Suchy (Ronkonkoma, NY/Our Savior) and
sophomore forward Mackenzie Lynch (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic),
who received honorable mention from the CACC for men's and women's
basketball, respectively.
Cricelli and the Cougars travel to New Hampshire this week for a pair of
non-conference games. Caldwell faces St. Anselm College on Wednesday,
Dec. 20 at 7:00 p.m., then plays Franklin Pierce College on Thursday,
Dec. 21 at 6:00 p.m.
