CALDWELL,
N.J. - The Caldwell College men's basketball team saw its four-game
winning streak come to an end with a 63-59 loss at Dominican College
in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game Thursday night at
the Hennessy Center. The defeat is also the Cougars' first in
conference play, dropping Caldwell to 2-1 in the league and 5-2
overall. The Chargers are now 3-3 on the season and 3-1 in the CACC.
The Cougars started slow, trailing by as many as 12 points while
shooting just 7-of-22 (31.8 percent) from the field in the first
half. A lay-up by Shelton Gibbs at the buzzer gave Dominican a 29-21
lead at halftime. The Chargers maintained the lead into the second
half and took its largest lead of the game, 43-28 at the 13-minute
mark. The Cougars made a late charge, out-scoring Dominican 8-2 in
the last 23 seconds of the game. But it was too little, too late for
Caldwell, which lost for the first time since Nov. 18 to the
Colorado School of Mines.
Senior guard Jean Georges (Vauxhal, NJ/Spotswood) notched 13
of his 19 points in the second half to lead the Cougars. Junior
forward B.J. Suchy (Ronkonkoma, NY/Our Savior) added 11
points and seven rebounds, while freshman forward Sam Cricelli
(Brighton, England/Culham), pictured, grabbed a team-high eight
boards to go with eight points. Prince Jackson scored 18 points for
Dominican, with Ron Wyatt contributing 11 points and 11 rebounds in
the victory.
Caldwell returns to the court on Saturday, Dec. 9, when they play at
the University of Sciences in CACC action. The game is scheduled to
begin at 3:00 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pa.
