GEORGES CHOSEN PLAYER OF THE MONTH BY NJ HOOPS
1-3-07
CALDWELL,
N.J. - Caldwell College senior guard Jean Georges (Vauxhal,
NJ/Spotswood) was named the Player of the Month for December by NJ
Hoops, the publication announced today. Georges, who averaged 16.9
points over eight games last month, also reached the 1,000-point
milestone for his career on Dec. 5.
Georges, who scored at least 20 points in the Cougars' first six games
this season, became the 13th Caldwell men's basketball player to score
1,000 career points when he hit a first-half three-pointer in an 82-58
victory over Felician College on Dec. 5. He finished that game with
season highs of 25 points and nine boards. Earlier in the month, Georges
earned Most Valuable Player honors at the Commerce Bank Cougar Classic
after totaling 42 points and 10 boards in wins over Mercy College and
Dowling College on Dec. 2-3. He also helped the Cougars cap off the
month with a 66-63 overtime win at Franklin Pierce College on Dec. 21,
scoring 17 points, including all five of Caldwell's points in the extra
period.
A native of Spotswood, N.J., Georges becomes the second Cougar in the
last three years to be selected Player of the Month by NJ Hoops, an
online publication that covers high school basketball in New Jersey.
Junior forward Manny Perez (Egg Harbor, NJ/Egg Harbor) received
the honor as a freshman in January of 2005. Georges now has scored 1,086
points in his career to rank ninth all-time at Caldwell. An all-Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference second team choice last year, he's
averaging 18.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game this season.
Georges and the Cougars do not play until Tuesday, Jan. 9, when they
travel to Philadelphia, Pa., to face Holy Family University in a CACC
contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
