PEREZ NAMED TO MBWA HONOR ROLL

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association included Caldwell College senior forward Manny Perez (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) on its the weekly Honor Roll for the week ending Dec. 21, the MBWA announced. This is the second time this season on the Honor Roll for Perez, who averaged 16.3 points and 8.3 rebounds to help the Cougars go 2-1 last week.

Perez began the week with 16 points and eight rebounds in a loss at Le Moyne College on Dec. 15. He then tallied 15 points and nine boards to lead the Cougars past Mercy College, 94-61 at the ECAC Holiday Classic, which was held at Caldwell College Dec. 20-21. Perez earned Player of the Game honors for that performance. Then in a 77-75 overtime victory over Queens College, the 6-7 forward had 18 points, eight rebounds and two blocks. His offensive output against Queens put him over the 1,500-point mark for his career. He now has 1,506 points to rank fourth all-time at Caldwell.

Perez, a three-time all-CACC second team selection, leads the Cougars in scoring and rebounding, averaging 17.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He was chosen the CACC Player of the Week and made the MBWA Honor Roll on Dec. 8 after registering back-to-back 24-point games.

Perez and the Cougars return to action when they play in the Gannon University Tournament, which will be held Dec. 29-30 in Erie, Penn.
