PEREZ EARNS SPOT ON MBWA HONOR ROLL

N.J. - Caldwell College senior forward Manny Perez (Egg Harbor Twp.,
NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) was selected to the Metropolitan Basketball
Writers Association's weekly Honor Roll for the
third time this season, the MBWA announced. Perez, who was chosen the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
Co-Player of the Week on Monday, averaged 27.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per
game in two conference victories last week.
In an 86-83 home triumph over Chestnut Hill College on Jan. 20, Perez poured
in a career-high 35 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. He went 11-of-18 from
the field and 13-of-17 from the line to eclipse his previous career best by
one point. Then on Saturday, Jan. 24, Perez made 9-of-11 from the floor en
route to 19 points and 11 boards in a 78-74 victory at Nyack College. For
the week, Perez shot 69.0 percent from the field.
A three-time all-Met
honoree, Perez leads the Cougars in scoring and rebounding, averaging
17.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He leads the CACC in field goal
percentage at 56.6 percent while ranking second in scoring and fourth in
rebounding. His offensive performance against Chestnut Hill allowed him to
become the fourth men’s basketball player at Caldwell to score 1,600 career
points. He now has 1,620 points in his career.
Each week the MBWA chooses a Player of the Week from among the nearly 75
colleges and universities in the tri-state area. All players who receive
votes for Player of the Week are named to the Honor Roll. Paris Horne of St.
John's was this week's Player of the Week. Perez has been included on the
Honor Roll twice previously this season, on Dec. 8 and Dec. 23.
Perez and the Cougars play at Post University on Tuesday, Jan. 27 in another
CACC match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. in Waterbury, Conn.
