CALDWELL,
N.J. - Caldwell College senior forward Manny Perez
(Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) was named the Player of the Month for
December by NJ Hoops, the publication announced today. Perez averaged team
highs of 17.9 points and 7.6 rebounds over eight games last month.
Perez started the month with back-to-back 24-point games to earn Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week honors and a spot on the
Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association weekly honor roll. He registered
24 points and 14 boards in a victory over Felician on Dec. 2, then had 24
points while making 10-of-10 from the line in a win at Goldey-Beacom Dec. 8.
At Caldwell's ECAC Holiday Classic Dec. 20-21, Perez was selected Player of
the Game in a win over Mercy after recording 15 points and nine rebounds. He
then tallied 18 points and eight boards in the Cougars' overtime victory
over Queens. In the final game of the month, Perez racked up 23 points
against Seton Hill in a tournament in Erie Penn., on Dec. 30.
Perez, a three-time all-CACC second team selection, leads the Cougars in
scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. He
now has 1,547 points in his career to rank fourth all-time at Caldwell.
NJ Hoops is an online publication that covers high school and college
basketball in New Jersey. This is the second time Perez has received a
monthly award from NJ Hoops, having been named the publication's Player of
the Month for December of 2004, during his freshman year.
Perez and the Cougars return to action on Thursday, Jan. 8, when they host
Bloomfield College in a CACC game. The tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. in the
George R. Newman Center.
