PEREZ SELECTED CACC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

12-8-08
CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College senior forward Manny Perez (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) was chosen the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for men's basketball for the week ending Dec. 7, the league announced today. Perez scored 24 points apiece for the Cougars in a pair of conference victories last week.

In a 78-70 triumph over Felician on Dec. 2, Perez was 7-of-13 from the field and 10-of-14 from the line while grabbing 14 rebounds to record his first double-double of the season. He then registered 24 points and five rebounds in an 83-71 win at Goldey-Beacom on Dec. 6, hitting all 10 of his free throws while going 7-of-11 from the floor. The victories allowed the Cougars to get out to a 2-0 start in conference play while evening their overall record at 3-3.

Perez, a three-time all-CACC second team selection, leads the Cougars in scoring and rebounding, averaging 17.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. This is the third time he has been named the CACC Player of the Week in his career. Perez has scored 1,440 career points to rank sixth all-time at Caldwell.

Perez and the Cougars will face Adelphi University in a non-conference match-up at home on Saturday, Dec. 13. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in the George R. Newman Center.
