MEN'S BASKETBALL ENDS FRANCE TOUR WITH LOSS
TO BAYONNE-URCUIT
8-16-07
BAYONNE, France – The Caldwell College men’s basketball
team came up short in its final exhibition game in France,
losing 62-45 to Bayonne-Urcuit at the Palais des Sports de Lauga.
The defeat ends the Cougars’ trip to France with a 1-3 record.
Senior guard Michael Wise (Whitesboro, NJ/Middle
Township) scored a team-best 13 points for Caldwell.
Bayonne held the lead through the first half and took a 33-30
advantage into halftime. Six points by sophomore forward Sam
Cricelli (Brighton, England/Culham) sparked an 8-0 run to
start the third quarter, putting Caldwell ahead 38-33. Bayonne
answered by scoring the next nine points, and never looked back.
A 13-0 spree by the hosts put the game out of reach for the
Cougars, who scored just 15 points after halftime.
Cricelli tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds,
while senior guard Adam Sabree (Detroit, MI/Renaissance)
had nine points and five boards in the loss.
The Cougars return to Paris on Friday before flying home
to New Jersey on Saturday.
