COUGARS RANKED NINTH IN REGION

9-9-04

The Caldwell College men's soccer team is ranked ninth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Regional Rankings for the New England Region, released earlier this week. The ranking marks the first time the Cougars have appeared in the regional rankings in the 13-year history of the program.

The Cougars (1-1) opened the 2004 season with a 1-0 overtime victory over Bentley College last Friday, then on Sunday lost 5-0 to Franklin Pierce, which is ranked fourth in the New England Region and also received votes in the NSCAA/adidas national rankings.

Earlier this week, freshman Andrew Fraser (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's) earned Player of the Week honors from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference after scoring the game-winner against Bentley in overtime in his collegiate debut.

The Cougars return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 4:00 p.m. when they host Millersville University, which is ranked fifth in the Northeast Region.
