MEN'S SOCCER RANKED EIGHTH IN NEW ENGLAND REGION9-21-04 The Caldwell College men's soccer team returned to the regional rankings this week as the Cougars are now ranked eighth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Regional Rankings for the New England Region. The Cougars appeared in the region top 10 earlier this season when they were ranked ninth on Sept. 9, marking the first time the men's soccer program received a regional ranking.
The Cougars (2-1) last played on Sept. 14, when they recorded a 3-0 victory over Millersville University, which was ranked fourth in the Northeast Region at the time. Sophomore Jorge Ibarcena (Lima, Peru) and freshman Nicholas Harriott (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Champion) each tallied a goal and an assist, while freshman Jan Marco Jiras (Lima, Peru) scored the game-winner in the 70th minute.
Earlier this week, Ibarcena became the second Cougar in three weeks to receive the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week award for his play against Millersville. Freshman Andrew Fraser (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's) earned Player of the Week honors on Sept. 8.
The Cougars open CACC play today with a home match against Felician at 4:00 p.m. |
