SKJELSTAD NAMED CACC PLAYER OF THE WEEK9-28-04 Sophomore midfielder Bard Skjelstad (Bodo, Norway) was chosen the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's men's soccer Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Skjelstad becomes the third Cougar to receive the honor in just four weeks of action.
Skjelstad helped the Cougars come from behind to defeat LIU-Southampton 3-1 by scoring a pure hat trick in six minutes, 24 seconds of action in the second half. On Saturday, Skjelstad scored again in a 1-1 tie at league-leading Wilmington. For the season, Skjelstad has four goals and one assist for nine points.
Last week, sophomore midfielder Jorge Ibarcena (Lima, Peru) won the CACC's weekly award after recording a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Millersville. Freshman defender Andrew Fraser (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's) received the league's first weekly award on Sept. 9 for scoring the game-winning goal in overtime against Bentley College in the season opener. The Cougars did not play a game during the second week of the season.
Now 3-2-1 on the season, the Cougars host Nyack College on Wednesday, Sept. 29, for an important CACC match. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field. |
