DOMINICAN EDGES COUGARS TO CAPTURE CACC TOURNEY11-5-05
Dominican's Kyle Clancy, the CACC Player of the Year, scored the game's only goal in the 14th minute The Cougars put pressure on the Chargers' goal but were unable to net the equalizer. The loss is the fifth straight for Caldwell against Dominican, who eliminated the Cougars in the semifinals of last year's CACC Tournament.
Senior goalkeeper Mike Turdo (West Paterson, NJ/Passaic Valley) had an outstanding game in goal for the Cougars, making five saves. First team all-CACC goalkeeper Robert Kelly recorded four saves to keep Caldwell off the scoreboard. The Cougars were forced to play the majority of the contest without starting midfielder Miguel Walker (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Wolmer's), who was knocked out of the game by a hard foul from Dominican's Colin Hodge in the fourth minute.
Juniors Uke Dauti (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) and Jorge Ibarcena (Lima, Peru) and sophomore Andrew Fraser (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's), pictured, were named to the CACC All-Tournament squad. Dauti and Ibarcena scored goals in the Cougars' 2-1 double-overtime win over Felician College in the semifinals.
