THREE COUGARS NAMED ALL-REGION

12-12-05

Dauti

Fraser

Ofstad

CALDWELL, N.J. - A trio of Caldwell College men's soccer players was named to the NSCAA/adidas All-New England Region teams, the organization announced. Junior forward Uke Dauti (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) and sophomore defender Andrew Fraser (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's) were selected to the second team, and sophomore defender Asgeir Ofstad (Trondheim, Norway) made the third team. Prior to this season, only four Caldwell College men's soccer players had received all-Region honors from the NSCAA in the program's history.

Dauti led the team in scoring with 16 goals and three assists for 35 points in 15 games. The first team all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference selection ranked second in the conference in points and goals while ranking seventh in goals per game (1.07) and eighth in points per game (2.33) among all NCAA Division II players. Dauti, who notched a team-best five game-winning goals, scored two or more goals in four games this season, including two hat tricks.

Fraser was named to the all-CACC first team this season after making the second team as a freshman in 2004. An outstanding defender, Fraser also contributed offensively, recording the game-winning goals in back-to-back victories over Nyack College and Holy Family on Sept. 13 and 15. He has four game-winners in his two-year career at Caldwell.

Ofstad made an immediate impact in his first season with the Cougars en route to being named the CACC Newcomer of the Year. Ofstad's strong play on the Cougars' back line helped the defense record four shutouts and a goals-against average of 1.29. He also tallied a pair of assists.

The Cougars finished 12-5-1 on the season and were ranked fourth in the final New England Region rankings after advancing to the finals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament on Nov. 5. The program received its first national ranking on Sept. 6, when they were ranked 24th in the NSCAA/adidas Division II national poll.
