FRASER NETS GAME-WINNER IN OT THRILLER WITH NYACK

NYACK, N.Y. - Sophomore defender Andrew Fraser (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's) scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick with just over two minutes remaining in the second overtime period to lift the Caldwell College men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Nyack College Thursday afternoon. The Cougars improved to 2-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and 3-1-1 overall, while the Warriors fell to 2-3-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

The Cougars got on the scoreboard early when sophomore midfielder Nicholas Harriott (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Campion) stole the ball and sent a pass to junior forward Uke Dauti (West Orange, NJ/West Orange), who scored his second goal of the season in the eighth minute. The Warriors pulled even just four minutes later on a header by Tim Conway.

The game remained tied through regulation and the first overtime period. The Cougars received the penalty kick opportunity when freshman forward Luis Sartorio (Asuncion, Paraguay/St. Benedict's Prep) dribbled in behind the Nyack defense and was taken down just inside the penalty area. Fraser placed his shot into the lower left corner of the goal for the win. It was his second game-winning goal in as many games.

Senior Mike Turdo (West Paterson, NJ/Passaic Valley) stopped eight shots for the Cougars, while Matt Andre made four saves for Nyack.

Next up for the Cougars is a CACC match at Felician College on Tuesday, Sept. 20. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Rutherford, N.J.
