MEN'S SOCCER PLACES FIVE ON ALL-CACC TEAMS

10-26-06
CALDWELL, N.J. - Five Caldwell College men's soccer players were included on the 2006 all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference teams, which were announced today. Senior forward Uke Dauti (West Orange, NJ/West Orange), junior defender Andrew Fraser (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's) and sophomore defender Asgeir Ofstad (Trondheim, Norway) were named to the first team, while senior midfielder Miguel Walker (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Wolmer's) and sophomore forward Chad Bennett (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion) made the second team. All but Bennett are repeat all-conference selections.

Dauti led the team in scoring for the second straight year, tallying 12 goals and four assists for 28 points in 18 games. An all-CACC first team and all-New England Region second team choice in 2005, Dauti has three multi-goal games and two game-winning goals this season. He scored on a penalty kick in Tuesday's 2-1 victory over Holy Family University in the CACC Tournament quarterfinals. For his career, Dauti has totaled 31 goals and seven assists for 69 points in 52 games at Caldwell.

Fraser repeats as a first team all-conference selection. An outstanding defender who has played in the middle as well as on the right side, Fraser has a pair of goals and an assist this season, including the game-winner at Bloomfield College on Sept. 18. Also a second team all-CACC selection as a freshman in 2004, Fraser has six career goals, five of which are game-winning goals.

Ofstad is the leader of a backline that has allowed just 14 goals in 18 games this season. Last year's CACC Newcomer of the Year and a second team all-CACC and all-Region honoree, Ofstad scored his first collegiate goal this year and has two goals and two assists. He assisted on the game-winning goal by junior midfielder Nicholas Harriott (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Campion) in Tuesday's quarterfinal win.

Walker returns to the all-CACC second team for the first time since his freshman season. The Cougars' starting center midfielder for four years and their captain for the past two, Walker also excels in the classroom. He is a two-time CACC All-Academic Team member and an Arthur Ashe Scholar Athlete honoree in 2004. Walker has a goal and four assists in 66 games as a Cougar.

Bennett emerged as the Cougars' second scoring option behind Dauti, recording seven goals and five assists for 19 points in 14 games. Despite missing four games due to injury, Bennett leads the team in game-winning goals with three. He tallied an assist in his first game back from injury, a 4-1 win at Molloy on Oct. 22.

The Cougars (12-5-1) play in the CACC Tournament semifinals against No. 21 Dominican College today at 1:00 p.m. at Tryon Field in Rutherford, N.J.
