DAUTI, FRASER, OFSTAD NAMED TO DAKTRONICS ALL-REGION SQUADS
11-15-06
CALDWELL, N.J. - Three Caldwell College men's soccer players were included
on the Division II Daktronics all-New England Region teams, announced today.
Senior forward Uke Dauti (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) made the first
team, with junior defender Andrew Fraser (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's)
and sophomore defender Asgeir Ofstad (Trondheim, Norway) named to the
second team. As a first-team member, Dauti will be included on the ballot
for Daktronics All-American honors.
Dauti led the team in scoring for the second straight year, tallying
12 goals and four assists for 28 points in 19 games. A two-time all-Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference
first team selection and a NSCAA all-New England Region second team choice in 2005, Dauti
tallied three multi-goal games and two game-winning goals this
season. He also scored the game-tying goal in the Cougars' CACC
Tournament quarterfinal victory over Holy Family University on Oct. 24. For his
career, Dauti has totaled 31 goals and seven assists for 69 points
in 53 games at Caldwell.
Fraser is a two-time all-conference first team honoree who also made
the NSCAA all-New England second team last season. An
outstanding defender who has played in the middle as well as on the
right side, Fraser recorded a pair of goals and an assist this season,
including the game-winner at Bloomfield College on Sept. 18. Also a
second team all-CACC selection as a freshman in 2004, Fraser has six
career goals, five of which are game-winning goals.
Ofstad is the leader of a backline that has allowed just 17 goals in
19 games this season. A 2006 first team all-CACC selection and last year's CACC
Newcomer of the Year, Ofstad scored his first
collegiate goal this year and totaled two goals and two assists. He
assisted on the game-winning goal by junior midfielder Nicholas
Harriott (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Campion) in the quarterfinal win
over Holy Family.
This is the first year that Daktronics has presented all-Region men's soccer
teams, which were selected by the sports information directors at each
institution. The New England Region consists of schools in the CACC and
Northeast 10 conferences.
