MEN'S SOCCER TOPS MOLLOY FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - The Caldwell College men's soccer team scored three unanswered goals in the second half to earn a 4-1 victory over Molloy College in a non-conference game Sunday afternoon at Darcy Field. The victory marks the season finale for the Cougars, who improve to 11-5-1 on the season with their fourth straight . The Lions complete their 2006 campaign with a 5-8-3 record.

Caldwell will host Holy Family University on Tuesday, Oct. 24 in the quarterfinals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament. The game starts at 2:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.

Junior defender Andrew Fraser (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's) opened the scoring in the ninth minute when he finished a pass from sophomore defender Asgeir Ofstad (Trondheim, Norway) from 10 yards out. Molloy tied the game in the 23rd minute on a goal by Michael Topel. The match remained tied into the second half until the 54th minute. A free kick by senior midfielder Jorge Ibarcena (Lima, Peru) was headed home by senior forward Uke Dauti (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) for his team-leading 11th goal of the season.

Senior forward Bard Skjelstad (Bodo, Norway) scored an unassisted goal in the 61st minute with a blast from 18 yards out. Junior Nicholas Harriott (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Campion) completed the scoring with a long shot from 30 yards that went over goalkeeper Ettore Morelli and into the goal in the 70th minute. Sophomore forward Chad Bennett (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion) picked up his fifth assist of the season on Harriott's goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper John Plaugic (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) made two saves for the win, while Morelli recorded 10 saves for Molloy. The Lions were also credited with a team save, as the Cougars out-shot Molloy 27-10.

Caldwell now prepares for the CACC Tournament meeting with fifth-seeded Holy Family on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field, with the winner advancing tot he semifinals on Thursday, Oct. 26 at Tryon Field in Rutherford, N.J.
