BRODERICK NAMED CACC CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
10-1-07
CALDWELL,
N.J. - Caldwell College freshman midfielder Bryan Broderick
(West Keansburg, NJ/Raritan) was chosen the Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Co-Rookie of the Week for
the week ending Sept. 30, the league announced today. Broderick, who
received the award along with Felician's Godlove Takyi, helped the
Cougars win a pair of conference games last week.
Broderick scored twice in a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over Post
University on Sept. 25. With Caldwell trailing 1-0, Broderick took a
long pass from senior defender Jan Marco Jiras (Lima, Peru)
and blasted a shot from 20 yards out to tie the game. Eight minutes
after junior forward Chad Bennett (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion)
scored to put the Cougars ahead 2-1, Broderick one-timed a pass from
junior defender Kagiso Rhenoster (Mafikeng, South Africa/Mmbatho)
into the net for his third goal of the season. Bennett, who also
scored in the Cougars' 3-0 win over Goldey-Beacom College on Sept.
29, received honorable mention from the CACC this week.
Bryan is one of three Broderick brothers on the Cougars' roster this
season, joining senior defender Matt Broderick and junior
midfielder James Broderick.
Broderick and the Cougars take on Dominican College on Wednesday,
Oct. 3
in a CACC match. The game, which will be played at Tappan Zee High
School in Orangeburg, N.Y., will begin at 1:30 p.m.
