CALDWELL, N.J. - Junior forward Luis Sartorio (Asuncion, Paraguay/St. Benedict's Prep) scored twice as the Caldwell College men's soccer team defeated C.W. Post, 3-1 in a non-conference match Sunday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The victory is the first of the season for the Cougars, who are now 1-1-2. The Pioneers fall to 1-3 with the loss.

Sartorio opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, when he collected a pass from sophomore midfielder Justin Miller (Monroe, NJ/Monroe) and placed a shot into the lower left corner of the goal for his first tally of the year. The two connected again in the 65th minute, when sophomore midfielder Peter Carlsson (Lycke, Sweden) sprung Miller with a pass down the right flank. Miller's cross found Sartorio, who scored from 10 yards out for a 2-0 lead.

Just three minutes later, the Pioneers pulled to within a goal on Matt Madarasz' tally from inside six yards off a pass from Julian Escobar. But with C.W. Post pressing for the equalizer, junior forward Chad Bennett (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion) one-timed a pass from junior midfielder Kevoi Walters (Clarendon, Jamaica/Clarendon) over goalkeeper Joel Sanger and into the net with just 1:30 to play.

Junior goalkeeper John Plaugic (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) made four saves in the victory, with Sanger recording five saves for the Pioneers.

The Cougars host Molloy College on Thursday, Sept. 13, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
