11-7-07
CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College men's soccer players Chad Bennett (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion) and Andrew Fraser (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's) were chosen to the Daktronics all-New England Region second team, as announced today. The all-New England Region teams were selected by the sports information directors of the institutions in the region, which consists of  the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and the Northeast 10 Conference.

Bennett, a junior forward, led the Cougars in scoring this season with 10 goals and one assist for 21 points to earn a spot on the all-CACC first team. An all-CACC second team selection in 2006, Bennett had two game-winning goals, including an overtime golden goal in a 2-1 victory over Molloy on Sept. 13. For his heroics, Bennett was chosen the CACC co-Player of the Week on Sept. 17. This past season, Caldwell was 8-1-1 when Bennett scored a goal. He was named to the CACC all-Tournament team after scoring a goal in a 2-0 win over Bloomfield College in the quarterfinal. In 46 career games at Caldwell, Bennett has tallied 19 goals and six assists for 44 points.

Fraser, a senior defender, is a repeat selection on the Daktronics all-New England Region second team, having earned the honor after last season. He also received NSCAA all-New England Region second team accolades in 2005. A four-time all-CACC honoree, Fraser was named to the all-conference first team for the third straight season this past fall. This season, he helped lead a defense that recorded eight shutouts while allowing 21 goals in 20 games. A two-time member of the CACC All-Academic Team, which requires a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average or higher, Fraser was recently selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District first team. In his 78 game career, Fraser totaled six goals and five assists for 17 points.

The Cougars, coached by Jamie  Nash, finished the 2007 season 10-6-4 and advanced to the CACC Tournament semifinals for the fifth straight year.
