BENNETT SELECTED TO DAKTRONICS ALL-REGION FIRST TEAM

11-12-08
CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College senior forward Chad Bennett (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion) was included on the 2008 Division II Daktronics All-East Region Men's Soccer first team, which was released by the College Sports Information Directors of America today. Voting was conducted by the sports information directors in the East Region, which consists of schools in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, the North East 10 and the East Coast Conference. Bennett and all first team all-Region honorees are now eligible for All-American accolades.

Bennett was named the CACC Player of the Year this past season after recording 13 goals and four assists for 30 points as a senior. He makes his first appearance on the all-Region first team following last year's selection to the Daktronics and NCSAA/adidas all-Region second teams. A two-time all-CACC first team honoree, Bennett notched four multi-goal games and three game-winning goals en route to becoming Caldwell's first CACC Player of the Year in the 18-year history of the program. He was named the CACC and ECAC Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 19 after recording three goals and an assist in two CACC wins. A gifted player with the ball at his feet, Bennett has been Caldwell's top offensive catalyst for the past two seasons, as the Cougars are 15-2-2 when he has scored a goal during that time. For his career, Bennett totaled 32 goals and 10 assists for 74 points in 64 games.

This past season, Bennett helped the Cougars, coached by Jamie Nash, capture their first CACC regular-season title since 1993 after finishing 8-1-1 in league play. Caldwell ended the season with a loss in the CACC Tournament semifinals to finish 11-7-1 overall. It was the team's sixth straight appearance in the conference semifinals.
