SKARBELIS NAMED CACC CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

CALDWELL, N.J.
– Freshman midfielder Chris Skarbelis (N. Andover,
MA/Leonardtown) was selected the Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference Men's Soccer Co-Rookie of the Week, the league announced
today in its first weekly release of the 2009 season. Skarbelis
scored the Cougars' only goal in the season-opening 2-1 loss to
Bloomsburg University on Thursday, Aug. 27 at the Nyack College
Tournament.
In the fourth minute of the game, freshman midfielder Nick Bibbs
(Ardmore, PA/Lower Merion) blasted a shot from 25 yards out that
clanged off the post. Skarbelis knocked home the rebound for his
first collegiate goal and a 1-0 Caldwell lead. Skarbelis came to
Caldwell after a stellar career at Leonardtown (Md.) High School,
where he earned all-County and all-Conference honors.
The Cougars return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 8, when they play at
Queens College in a non-conference game.
