CASTLE, Del. - The Caldwell College men's soccer team lost a Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference game to Wilmington University, 4-1
Saturday afternoon at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex. With the loss,
the Cougars fall to 2-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while
the Wildcats pick up their sixth straight victory to improve to
10-2, 5-0 CACC.
Wilmington took a first-half lead with a goal by Joe Stant in the
34th minute. The score remained 1-0 until Nickalus McDonald found
the net in the 58th minute to put the Wildcats on top 2-0. Less than
four minutes later, Fatoma Turay hit a shot from 23 yards out that
made the score 3-0 Wilmington. Sophomore midfielder Kieran
Bisland (Paisley, Scotland/St. Andrew’s) got the Cougars on the
scoreboard in the 65th minute, when he converted a penalty kick to
cut the deficit to 3-1. The Wildcats answered less than four minutes
later with a goal by Sargbah Tarpeh. Tarpeh and McDonald each had a
goal and an assist for Wilmington.
Sophomore goalkeeper John Londono (West New York,
NJ/Memorial) made six saves in goal for Caldwell. Duhan Malali
started for the Wildcats and made two saves in 72 minutes, while
Ethan Kavanagh recorded two saves in 18 minutes.
The Cougars host Nyack College in a CACC game on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
