CALDWELL MEN'S TENNIS EDGES RUTGERS-NEWARK, 5-4

NEWARK,
N.J. - The Caldwell College men's tennis team won three singles matches and
two in doubles to defeat Rutgers-Newark 5-4 Thursday afternoon at The Golden
Dome Courts. Senior Chris Laciura (Teaneck, NJ/Paramus Catholic) was
one of three Cougars to earn victories in singles and doubles to help
Caldwell improve to 3-2 on the year. The loss drops the Scarlet Raiders to
5-5.
Laciura combined with fellow senior Chris Costa (Montville, NJ/DePaul
Catholic) at No. 1 doubles for an 8-4 win over Kevin Santos and Lam Nguyen,
then defeated Cirio deJesus 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Costa won his match
at No. 1 singles in straight sets over Santos. At No. 2 doubles, junior
Jan Marco Jiras (Lima, Peru) teamed with junior Amir Zandieh
(Tehran, Iran/Montville) to win 8-4 over de Jesus and Ryan before picking up
another win in straight sets at No. 5 singles.
Next up for Caldwell is a dual at Adelphi University on Monday, Apr. 23 in
Garden City, N.Y.
