LUKACS TO COACH TENNIS TEAMS AT CALDWELL COLLEGE
6-27-07
CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College Executive Director of Athletics Mark A.
Corino has announced the hiring of Michael Lukacs as head tennis
coach. Lukacs will coach both of Caldwell's men's and
women's tennis programs and also serve as an assistant for the men's
basketball team.
Lukacs has been involved in tennis as a player and instructor since his
youth. A 1987 graduate of the University of Maine, Lukacs earned his
Bachelor's degree in Education, which included courses in tennis coaching.
He worked as a tennis instructor for the Belfast Area Tennis Club in
Belfast, Maine for four years. He also has 10 years of experience as a
basketball coach on the collegiate level.
"I'm looking forward to the opportunity to build the tennis programs at
Caldwell College and bring in student-athletes who will help us be
successful," Lukacs said. "Both the men's and women's teams have experienced
individual and team success recently, and I hope to build on that
foundation."
Caldwell's women's tennis team returns five players from last season's 6-8
squad, but must replace Oksana Manoukian (Old Tappan, NJ/Northern
Valley Regional), who was the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player
of the Year after winning the CACC Singles Tournament last fall. The men's team
went 5-4 in dual matches this past spring.
A native of Somerset, N.J., Lukacs and his wife Rosalie currently reside in
Middletown, N.J.
