COKER, SAUNDERS RECEIVE CACC SOFTBALL WEEKLY AWARDS

CALDWELL, N.J. - Juniors Amy Coker
(Pennsville, NJ/Pennsville) and Jessica Saunders (Glen Burnie,
MD/Archbishop Spaulding) were named the Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference's Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for
softball, the conference announced. The duo helped the Cougars go 4-0
last week against the CACC's the University of Sciences and Nyack
College.
Coker, an All-Northeast Region selection last season, went 7-for-12
(.583) with two doubles, three runs, four runs batted in and three
stolen bases in the four games. She turned in three multi-hit games
while raising her batting average to .333 for the season.
Saunders (4-2) pitched 10 scoreless innings while recording shutout
victories over USP and Nyack. In the two games, opponents batted just
.071 against Saunders, who struck out 16 hitters while allowing two
hits and six walks. In the first game against Nyack, Saunders tossed a
one-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in six innings.
This week the Cougars (8-3) play a doubleheader at Georgian Court
today before hosting Pace, Holy Family and American International on
Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
