SOFTBALL AMONG NATION'S BEST ACADEMICALLY

CALDWELL,
N.J. - The Caldwell College softball team finished the 2004-05 academic year
with a team grade-point average of 3.247 to rank 29th among all NCAA
Division II softball programs. The Cougars also had the second-highest team
GPA in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and ranked third among
Northeast Region institutions.
This is the second year in a row that the Cougars have achieved a team GPA
that ranked among the nation's top 40 programs. The Cougars, who were 37th
after the 2003-04 academic year, also received an award for having the
highest team GPA at the 2004 College Softball World Series.
The Cougars, coached by Dean Johnson, captured the Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference regular-season and tournament titles and advanced to
the NCAA Northeast Region Tournament for the second year in a row in 2005.
Over the past two seasons, Johnson's squad has gone 85-18.
