COUGARS RANKED 25TH IN FINAL NFCA TOP 25 POLL

CALDWELL, N.J. - For the third straight season, the Caldwell College
softball team has earned a spot in the final National Fastpitch Coaches
Association Division II Top 25 Poll, the organization announced. The
Cougars, coached by Dean Johnson, are ranked 25th after being ranked
22nd at the end of the 2005 season and seventh in 2004.
This past season, Caldwell captured Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
regular-season and tournament titles for the third consecutive year en route
to a final record of 36-17. Caldwell also participated in the NCAA Division
II Northeast Region Tournament for the third season in a row. The Cougars,
who were ranked as high as 12th in 2006, have appeared in 21 of the last 22
NFCA Top 25 polls.
The 2006 season was highlighted by Johnson's 300th career victory, the CACC
Tournament championship and senior Katie Jackson (Pennsville,
NJ/Pennsville) becoming the first Caldwell player to be named CACC Player of
the Year. Jackson was one of seven seniors who led the Cougars to a record
of 151-54 in their four years at Caldwell, including a Northeast Region
championship in 2004.
