DAHL NAMED ECAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
4-18-06
CALDWELL,
N.J. - Caldwell College junior Anna Dahl (Lindenwold, NJ/Camden
Catholic) was chosen the ECAC Division II Player of the Week for the week
ending Apr. 16, the organization announced today. Dahl, who was selected the Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference's Player of the Week and co-Pitcher of the Week yesterday, went 3-0 with an earned run average of 0.37 while
batting .632 with two home runs and five RBIs.
Dahl helped the Cougars go 7-1 last week, pitching three complete-game victories
while yielding just
one earned run and seven hits in 19.0 innings of work. After giving up a
combined three runs and five hits in CACC wins over Bloomfield College and
Wilmington College, Dahl capped the week with a two-hit shutout of Dowling
College on Thursday. She totaled 14 strikeouts for the week.
At the plate, Dahl went 3 for 4 in the win at Bloomfield, then homered in
the victory against Wilmington. She also hit a home run and a double in the
Cougars' 8-0 win over Philadelphia University on Wednesday. After going 12
of 19 for the week, Dahl raised her batting average on the season 143 points
to .265.
Dahl becomes the second Cougar softball player to receive the ECAC's weekly
award, following senior Katie Jackson (Pennsville, NJ/Pennsville),
who was the Player of the Week on May 10, 2005.
Dahl and the Cougars return to action today with a CACC doubleheader at Goldey-Beacom College. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
in Wilmington, Del.
