COUGARS TO DEFEND CACC TOURNAMENT TITLE THIS WEEK

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College softball team will attempt to capture
its fourth consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament
this week, beginning on Thursday, May 3. The Cougars, who earned their
fourth straight CACC regular-season title after tying for first place with
Georgian Court University, will play the winner of the first-round game
between Wilmington College and Felician College at 2:00 p.m. at Harry
Rash Field in Wall, N.J. Tournament games played on Friday and Saturday will
be at Georgian Court.
The Cougars, coached by Dean Johnson, enter the tourney as the No. 2
seed behind the host Lions after finishing CACC play with a 17-5 record.
Over the past four seasons, Caldwell has compiled an impressive 73-11
conference record during the regular season while going 10-1 in the last
three CACC tournaments. This season the Cougars finished the regular season
with a 31-15 overall record and ranked eighth in the latest NCAA Division II
Northeast Region poll.
