SOFTBALL NOW 13TH IN NFCA NATIONAL POLL
3-12-07
CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College softball team moved up eight places to
13th in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Top 25
Poll, released last week. The Cougars, who were 21st in the NFCA Preseason
Top 25 on Feb. 1, now have appeared in 23 of the last 24 national polls over
the past three-plus seasons.
Caldwell received 92 points in the poll and are the highest ranked team from
the Northeast Region. The three-time defending Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference champion Cougars are one of three teams in the Top 25 poll that
have yet to play a game this season. Defending national champion Lock Haven
University holds the top spot in the poll with five first-place votes and
184 points.
The Cougars, coached by Dean Johnson, begin the 2007 season at the
Rebel Spring Games on Friday, Mar. 16, with games against Indiana (Pa.)
University and Ashland University.
