COUGARS REMAIN 12TH IN NATIONAL SOFTBALL RANKINGS

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College softball team held the 12th spot in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Top 25 Poll, released today. The Cougars, who are 19-6 overall and 9-2 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, also were ranked 12th in last week's poll, and have appeared in all seven polls during the 2007 season.

Caldwell received 116 points in the poll and are the highest ranked team from the Northeast Region. Last week the Cougars swept Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foe Holy Family University and Queens College in their only action of the week. Yesterday, Caldwell outlasted Bloomfield College, 7-6 in 10 innings in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader. The second game will be played today at 3:00 p.m. at Caldwell Field.

Defending national champion Lock Haven University remains No. 1 in the poll with seven first-place votes and 199 points.

The Cougars, coached by Dean Johnson, will play No. 21 C.W. Post, the only other Northeast Region team ranked in this week's national poll, in a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday, Apr. 12. The first pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. at Caldwell Field.
