SOFTBALL RANKED 16TH IN NFCA TOP 25 POLL

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College softball team
is ranked 16th in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Top 25
Poll, released today. The Cougars, who are 22-8 overall and 12-4 in the
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, were in the 12th spot for the last
two weeks before dropping to 16th this week.
Caldwell received 70 points in the poll and are the second-highest ranked team from
the Northeast Region behind No. 9 C.W. Post. Last week the Cougars were 2-2,
splitting CACC doubleheaders with Bloomfield College and the University of
Sciences. Games against C.W. Post and No. 25 Adelphi University that were
scheduled for last week were postponed due to weather. The Cougars will host
the Pioneers on Monday, Apr. 23, and will play Adelphi on Monday, Apr. 30 at
Caldwell Field.
Defending national champion Lock Haven
University remains No. 1 in the poll with seven first-place votes and
199 points.
The Cougars, coached by Dean Johnson, will play at Dowling College
today in a
non-conference doubleheader. The first pitch is set for
3:00 p.m. in Holbrook, N.Y.
