CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College freshman shortstop Danielle Genovese (Livingston, NJ/Livingston) was selected to the 2007 Daktronics Softball All-Northeast Region first team, announced today. Genovese, who was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Year, led the team in six offensive categories to help the Cougars to a 34-17 record and a share of their fourth consecutive CACC regular-season title.

Genovese started 50 of Caldwell's 51 games at shortstop this season and paced the Cougars in batting average (.412) hits (68), runs (40), doubles (14), triples (5) and stolen bases (11) while leading the conference in hits. Also a first team all-CACC selection this spring, Genovese earned CACC Player of the Week honors for the week ending Apr. 1 after hitting .514 with eight runs batted in, 10 runs scored, two home runs, two triples and two doubles in 10 games. Earlier this season, she drove in the game-winning runs in extra-inning victories over Minnesota State-Mankato and Bloomfield.

The Daktronics All-Northeast Region teams were selected by the sports information directors of the 38 NCAA Division II colleges in the Northeast Region, which consists of the teams from the CACC, the East Coast Conference and the Northeast-10 Conference.
