KISSIMMEE,
Fla. - The Caldwell College softball team split a doubleheader with the
University of Minnesota-Duluth, winning the first game 3-1 before falling 7-3
in Game 2 Sunday afternoon at the Rebel Spring Games. Sophomore pitcher
Kristen de la Campa (Whitman, MA/Whitman Hanson) went the distance in
the victory, allowing just three hits and one run. The day's results give
the 12th-ranked Cougars a 4-2 record on the season, while the Bulldogs are
now 9-9.
UMD got on the scoreboard first in Game 1 with a run in the top of the
first. Caldwell answered in the bottom half of the first when senior

fourth when a double by freshman Alicia Langone (Kendall Park,

Genovese (Livingston, NJ/Livingston) also had hits for Caldwell.
In the second game, the Cougars jumped out to a 3-0 lead with three unearned
runs in the top of the second inning. Four errors in the inning allowed
junior Carrie Flasphaler (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads), freshman
Sydney Day (Houston, TX/Stratford) and Langone score runs. But the
Bulldogs came back with four runs in the bottom of the second on four hits,
including a two-run double by Nikki Jensen. UMD added two runs in the third
