CALDWELL SOFTBALL RANKED 23RD IN NFCA DIVISION II POLL

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College softball team is ranked 23rd nationally in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Top 25 Poll, released Wednesday. The Cougars, who are making their first appearance in the Top 25 this season, are now 33-20 after winning the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament this past weekend. This week the team will be playing in the NCAA Northeast Region Tournament, hosted by C.W. Post University, for the fourth time in the past five years.

The Cougars rolled through the CACC Tournament, winning three straight games by a combined score of 20-4 en route to their fourth title in five seasons. Senior third-baseman Nicole Bodrog (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after going 3-for-4 with two doubles and four runs in an 11-4 victory over Georgian Court in the final. In that win, the team set a new conference record for hits in a tournament game with 18. Junior Gina Capardi (West Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell), sophomores Danielle Genovese (Livingston, NJ/Livingston) and Brittni Frantellizzi (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) and freshman Brittany Pulido (Ojai, CA/Nordhoff) joined Bodrog on the all-Tournament Team.

Caldwell begins play at the NCAA Division II Northeast Region Tournament on Wednesday, May 7.
