CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College senior Nicole Bodrog (Mt. Laurel,
NJ/Lenape) and freshman Brittany Pulido (Ojai, CA/Nordhoff) were
named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player and Pitcher of the
Week, respectively, for the week ending May 4, the league announced today.
The duo led the Cougars to the CACC Tournament championship this past
weekend.
Bodrog batted .500 (6-for-12) with six runs and two runs batted in to
receive the tournament's Most Valuable Player award. In the final game,
Bodrog went 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles and an RBI to spark the
Cougars to an 11-4 victory over Georgian Court University. She also notched
a season-high eight assists while recording no errors at third base in the
win. A 2008 all-CACC first team selection, Bodrog also had a pair of hits
and two runs in Caldwell's 7-0 victory over the University of the Sciences
in the first round on Thursday.
Pulido started all three games of the tournament for Caldwell, blanking USP
7-0 in six innings, tossing a three-hit shutout against Georgian Court in
Friday's 2-0 win, then wrapping up the championship with six strong innings
in an 11-4 win on Saturday. Pulido, who also earned all-CACC first team
honors in her first collegiate season, was chosen to the all-Tournament Team
for her efforts this past weekend. This is the second Pitcher of the Week
honor for Pulido, who also was named the CACC Rookie of the Week twice.
The Cougars (33-20) begin play at the NCAA Division II Northeast Region
Tournament on Wednesday, May 7 against Georgian Court. The game is set to
begin at 2:00 p.m. at C.W. Post University in Brookville, N.Y.
