CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College softball team pounded out 29 hits in a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victories over Chestnut Hill College, 10-0 and 13-2 in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at chilly Caldwell Field. Sophomore Brittni Frantellizzi (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) was one of three players to record four hits on the day for the Cougars, who are now 9-7 overall and 4-0 in the conference. The Griffins, who are playing their first season at the NCAA Division II level, fall to 5-17, 2-4 CACC.

Frantellizzi and sophomore Kyrie Timbrook (Los Gatos, CA/Los Gatos), pictured, singled home runs in the bottom of the first inning of Game 1 for a 2-0 Caldwell lead. Then in the third, Frantellizzi drove in junior Gina Capardi (West Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) with a single, then later scored on an error. Timbrook's two-out double brought home freshman Annie Forte (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) to put the Cougars up 5-0. A lead-off triple by senior Carrie Flasphaler (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) started a five-run fourth inning for Caldwell, with senior Nicole Bodrog (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape), Capardi and junior Kim Aguirre (Highland, CA/San Gorgonio) driving in runs in the inning. Freshman Brittany Pulido (Ojai, CA/Nordhoff) pitched four scoreless innings and gave up five hits while striking out four to improve to 5-1.

In the second game, the Cougars scored 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning on nine hits and five Chestnut Hill errors. Bodrog, Capardi, Forte and Timbrook each had two RBIs in the inning, which saw the Cougars score nine runs after there were two outs. Caldwell added a pair of runs in the third inning on RBI singles from sophomore Sydney Day (Houston, TX/Stratford) and junior Cecilia Goforth (Houston, TX/St. Agnes Acad.) for a 13-0 advantage. The Griffins put their first runs on the scoreboard on a single by Marianne Finfrock and an error in the top of the fifth to make the final score 13-2. Forte pitched all five innings, allowing three hits and two runs, one earned, while fanning three to earn her first collegiate victory.

Capardi and Timbrook also had four hits apiece on the day, with Timbrook driving in a team-best four runs. Frantellizzi extended her hitting streak to 10 games.

Caldwell's game with Queens College on Monday, Mar. 31 will be played at Molloy College in Rockville Centre, N.Y. The non-conference doubleheader begins at 2:30 p.m.
