KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Caldwell College softball team lost to No. 7 Nebraska-Omaha, 5-0 and Augustana (S.D.) College, 8-0 Sunday afternoon at the Rebel Springs Games in Kissimmee, Fla. With the losses, the Cougars drop to 2-4 on the season.

Caldwell managed just one hit off Nebraska-Omaha pitcher Melissa Negrete, an infield single from senior Nicole Bodrog (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape). The Mavericks (7-2) scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings before putting three runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth. Leslie Svoboda and Alli Hukill each hit home runs. Freshman Brittany Pulido (Ojai, CA/Nordhoff) turned in another strong performance against a nationally-ranked team, allowing four hits and two runs in five innings of work.

The Cougar bats remained quiet in the day's second game, as Augustana's Kelly Ottis held Caldwell to just two hits. Six runs in the second inning put the Vikings in command and proved insurmountable for the Cougars. Junior starter Cecilia Goforth (Houston, TX/St. Agnes Acad.) took the loss, with Ottis recording the complete-game shutout.

Caldwell faces Concordia (Neb.) College and the University of New Haven on Monday, Mar. 17 at the Rebel Games.
