PHILADELPHIA ELIMINATES COUGARS FROM CACC TOURNAMENT

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team
completed its season with a 3-0 loss to Philadelphia University
Tuesday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
Tournament quarterfinal game at Ravenhill Field. The Cougars, seeded
seventh, finish the 2007 campaign with a 5-14 record, while the
second-seeded Rams (13-6) advance to Thursday's semifinals.
The Cougars battled in the first half and kept the Rams off the
scoreboard for the game's first 45 minutes. less than four minutes
into the second half, a Caldwell defender was called for a foul in
the penalty area, resulting in a Philadelphia penalty kick. Rebecca
Kennedy converted the penalty kick to put the Rams ahead 1-0.
Melissa McMullen followed with a goal in the 53rd minute, then
Amanda Tagland found the back of the net in the 62nd minute for a
3-0 advantage.
Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) made
four saves in goal for the Cougars, who lose six seniors from this
year's squad. Forward Brook DeLucca (Nutley, NJ/Nutley),
midfielders Carla Bleiler (Galloway Twp., NJ/Absegami),
Jessica Davis (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) and Jennifer
Ferreira (Colonia, NJ/Colonia), and defenders Tory Marcus
(Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) and Danielle Shovlin (Allentown,
NJ/Notre Dame) helped Caldwell win 31 games over the last four
seasons and advance to the CACC Tournament three times.

Oct. 30, 2007 - Three Caldwell College women's soccer players earned
all-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference accolades as the conference
announced its postseason awards today. Senior midfielder Carla Bleiler
(Galloway Twp., NJ/Absegami) and junior midfielder Kristee Paknis
(Whiting, NJ/Manchester) were named to the all-CACC second team, while
junior defender Kim Fenton (Galloway Twp., NJ/Absegami) received
honorable mention. (more)
COUGARS COMPLETE CACC SLATE WITH WIN AT NYACK

N.Y. - Junior midfielder Samantha Rinks (Corinth, TX/Billy
Ryan) scored in the 60th minute to lift the Caldwell College women's
soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Nyack College in the final Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference match for both teams Tuesday
afternoon at Mosely Field. The win means the Cougars (5-13 overall,
5-6 CACC) will finish no lower than seventh place in the conference
heading into next week's CACC Tournament. The Warriors (8-10) also
finished with a 5-6 record in the CACC.
With the game still scoreless midway through the second half, a pass
from senior midfielder Carla Bleiler (Galloway Twp.,
NJ/Galloway Twp.) sent Rinks in alone on Nyack goalkeeper Whitney
Shutt. Rinks (pictured) beat Shutt for her second goal of the season
and the only tally of the game. The win ends a five-game losing skid
for Caldwell, which returns to the CACC Tournament for the third
time in four years.
Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) made
one save to record her third shutout of the season, while Shutt
recorded five saves in goal for Nyack. Caldwell held a 12-4
advantage in shots over the Warriors for the game.
The Cougars wrap up the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 25 with a
home game against N.Y.I.T. The game, which starts at 3:30 p.m. at
Caldwell Field, marks the final home match for the six seniors on
the team.

N.J. - The Caldwell College women's soccer team dropped a Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference match to Holy Family University, 3-1
Saturday afternoon at Caldwell Field. The Cougars are now 4-13
overall and 4-6 in the conference, while the Tigers (9-7) remain
unbeaten in the CACC with a perfect 9-0 mark.
Kelsey Marvill put Holy Family on the board in the 36th minute with
a goal off an assist from Ashley Antczak. The game remained 1-0
until Kaitlin Gavaghan received a pass from Jillian Shank, dribbled
along the endline to the left of the goal and scored from six yards
out in the 73rd minute. Less than four minutes later, Marvill took
advantage of a mishandled ball and notched her second goal of the
game for a 3-0 lead. Just 1:24 after Marvill's goal, a Holy Family
defender was called for a hand ball in the Tigers' penalty area.
Junior midfielder Kristee Paknis (Whiting, NJ/Manchester),
pictured, converted the ensuing penalty kick for her team-leading
eighth goal of the season. The Cougars threatened in the final 12
minutes of play but were unable to complete the comeback.
Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) stopped
five shots in goal for Caldwell, while Holy Family's Kelly McGrogan
made three saves.
The Cougars play their final CACC game of the season on Tuesday,
Oct. 23, when they face Nyack College on the road. Game time is set
for 3:00 p.m. in Nyack, N.Y.

COUGARS LOSE IN OVERTIME TO POST

N.J. - Sarah Byers' goal in the 97th minute gave Post University a
3-2 overtime victory over Caldwell College in a Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference women's soccer match Thursday afternoon at
Caldwell Field. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 4-12 overall and
4-5 in the conference, while the Eagles improve to 4-11-1 on the
season, including a 4-4-1 mark in the CACC.
Six minutes and 45 seconds into the first overtime period, a cross
off a corner kick bounced through the penalty area off several
players before finding Byers in front of the Caldwell goal. Her shot
into an open goal ended the game in favor of the visiting Eagles,
who trailed for most of the contest.
The Cougars opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, when junior
midfielder Samantha Rinks (Corinth, TX/Billy Ryan) collected
a long throw-in from freshman defender Morgan Frankenfield
(Coplay, PA/Whitehall Coplay) and blasted a shot into the net for
her first goal of the season. Then in the 43rd minute, a cross from
Frankenfield slipped through the hands of Post goalkeeper Morgan
Luschenat to junior midfielder Kristee Paknis (Whiting,
NJ/Manchester), who scored her team-leading seventh goal of the year
for a 2-0 lead. Susan Curran finished a pass from Rachel Shivers in
the 60th minute to cut the lead to 2-1. Six minutes later, Caldwell
was called for a handball in its own penalty area. Maria Krug
converted the ensuing penalty kick to tie the game at 2-2.
Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Hoenig (Howell, NJ/Howell) made
two saves for Caldwell, while Post's Luschenat stopped two shots in
the first half and Stephanie Goss recorded one save in 52 minutes of
action. The Cougars led in shots, 12-7 and corner kicks, 6-1.
Next up for Caldwell is a CACC game with Holy Family University on
Saturday, Oct. 20. The game is set to start at 12:00 p.m. at
Caldwell Field.
