East Region Tournament for the fifth time in six years.
CALDWELL'S KYRIE TIMBROOK NAMED ECAC ROBBINS SCHOLAR-ATHLETE
9-15-09
CALDWELL,
N.J. - Caldwell College senior softball player Kyrie Timbrook (Los
Gatos, CA/Los Gatos) is one of six recipients of the Eastern College
Athletics Conference Robbins Scholar-Athlete Awards, ECAC Commissioner Rudy
Keeling announced today. Timbrook, an all-Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference and all-Region first baseman, was selected as the female Division
II student-athlete to receive the award.
“This is such a great honor for Kyrie and I congratulate her,” said Linda
Cimino, Assistant Director of Athletics and the coordinator of the
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Caldwell. “Kyrie represents everything
a Division II student-athlete should be: an excellent student, a standout on
the softball diamond and an active participant on campus and in our
community engagement activities. She certainly deserves to be recognized
with a prestigious honor such as the Robbins Scholar-Athlete Award.”
The Robbins Scholar-Athlete Award honors the outstanding academic and
athletic achievements of student-athletes representing ECAC schools in
Divisions I, II and III. One male and one female student-athlete from each
division are selected based on extraordinary achievements in academics,
athletics and community service. Among the six Robbins Award recipients,
Timbrook is the only Scholar-Athlete who received the award after her junior
year, as the other five graduated this past spring.
A
Communication Arts major at Caldwell, Timbrook is a two-time member of the
CACC All-Academic Team, which requires a cumulative grade-point average of
3.5 or higher. She also has received the Division II Athletics Directors
Association Academic Achievement Award the past two years. An active member
of Caldwell’s SAAC, Timbrook has volunteered in the community for events
such as Halloween on Bloomfield Avenue, Taste of the Caldwells and free
softball clinics for area youth softball players.
Last season for the Cougars, Timbrook made the all-CACC first team and the
Daktronics All-Region second team after a standout season at the plate and
in the field. She led the Cougars in batting average (.364), hits (63),
doubles (19), homers (four), total bases (94), and slugging percentage
(.543). Also an excellent defensive player, Timbrook committed just two
errors in 498 chances at first base and catcher for a .996 fielding
percentage. Her performance helped the Cougars reach the NCAA Division II
East Region Tournament for the fifth time in six years.
The ECAC's membership includes approximately 300 colleges and universities
from Maine to North Carolina and westerly to Illinois. Caldwell
student-athletes have received weekly and year-end honors from the ECAC
since joining the organization in 2004, and the men's and women's soccer
teams and men's and women's basketball teams have competed in ECAC
championship tournaments.

CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College senior Gina Capardi (West Caldwell,
NJ/Caldwell) was selected to the NCAA Division II All-East Region first team
by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, the organization announced
today. Additionally, junior Kyrie Timbrook (Los Gatos, CA/Los Gatos),
sophomore Brittany Pulido (Ojai, CA/Nordhoff) and freshman Kelly
Ryan (Woonsocket, RI/Mt. St. Charles Acad.) were included on the

This year she batted .327 with 19 doubles, three triples, two home runs and
31 runs batted in to earn a spot on the all-Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference first team. Also a Daktronics All-East Region second team choice,
Capardi is now a candidate for All-America honors as a result of making the
NFCA All-Region first team.
Like Capardi, Timbrook made the all-CACC first team and the Daktronics
All-Region second team after a standout season at the plate and in the
field. She led the Cougars in batting average (.364), hits (63), doubles
(19), homers (four), total bases (94), and slugging percentage (.543). Also
an excellent defensive player, Timbrook committed just two errors in 498
chances at first base and catcher for a .996 fielding percentage.
This year's All-Region honor is the first for
Pulido, who has been the Cougars' top pitcher over the last two seasons. A member
of the all-CACC first team, Pulido led the CACC with an earned
run average of 1.34 while posting a record of 18-8 with three saves in 36
appearances. She hurled six complete-game shutouts this year, including
a three-hitter in a 2-0 victory over Dowling at the NCAA Division II East
Region Tournament on May 8. An
excellent control pitcher, Pulido walked just 20 batters in 183
innings.
Ryan anchored the Cougars' outfield in her first season, starting all 57
games in centerfield for Caldwell. An all-CACC first team honoree, she led
the Cougars in multi-hit games (21), stolen bases (16) and sacrifice hits
(16) while batting .312 with 32 runs and 62 hits as the Cougars' primary
lead-off hitter. The strong-armed outfielder also recorded five assists from
centerfield this season.
The Cougars, coached by Dean Johnson, finished the season 37-18-2 and

THREE COUGARS EARN DAKTRONICS SOFTBALL ALL-REGION ACCOLADES

CALDWELL, N.J. - Three Caldwell College softball players were named to the
Daktronics All-East Region Softball second team, which was announced today. Senior Gina Capardi (West
Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) and junior Danielle Genovese (Livingston,
NJ/Livingston) make their second appearances on the all-region team, while
Kyrie Timbrook (Los Gatos, CA/Los Gatos) earns her first all-region

team last week after batting .327 with 19 doubles, three triples, two home

15 stolen bases and walked a team-best 29 times. At the NCAA Division II
East Region Tournament last weekend, Capardi batted .333 (5-for-15) with two
runs and two RBI in four games. She leaves Caldwell after recording 135 hits
and 82 RBI in two seasons.
Genovese returns to the All-Region team after making the first team as a
freshman in 2007. A three-time all-CACC first team choice at shortstop, she
batted .320 with 16 doubles and 25 RBI and led the Cougars with 40 runs.
During the regular season, Genovese belted a three-run home run in the top
of the seventh to beat Molloy College, 3-1 on Apr. 4. She also hit a home
run at the East Regional against Le Moyne College on May 10.

SYRACUSE,
N.Y. -
The Caldwell College softball team lost to Le Moyne College, 7-1 and was eliminated
from the NCAA Division II Softball Regional Sunday afternoon at Le Moyne's
Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The Cougars complete their season with an
overall record of 37-18-2. The Dolphins (43-10) will face Georgian Court
University in next weekend's Super Regional for a berth in the NCAA Division
II Women's College World Series.
Le Moyne broke the game open with four runs on six hits and two Caldwell
errors in the bottom of the third inning. The Cougars scored their only run
of the game in the top of the fourth on a solo home run by junior
Danielle Genovese (Livingston, NJ/Livingston) that made the score 4-1.
It was her third home run of the season. But a solo homer from Jennifer
Farrelly in the fifth and a two-run single by Leah Ford put the game out of
reach for Caldwell, which lost to the Dolphins, 2-1 on Saturday.
Farrelly surrendered just three hits and one run while striking out five to
improve to 18-4. Caldwell sophomore Brittany Pulido (Ojai, CA/Nordhoff)
gave up nine hits in 4 2/3 innings of work to fall to 18-8 on the season.
Senior pitcher Kristen de la Campa (Whitman, MA/Whitman Hanson)
pitched a perfect sixth inning in her final performance for Caldwell. Also
playing in their last games in the Scarlet, White and Gold were All-American
second baseman Gina Capardi (West Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) and
infielder Kim Aguirre (Highland, CA/San Gorgonio).
The Cougars, coached by Dean Johnson, played in their fifth NCAA
Division II Region Tournament in the past six years. This year's performance
marked the third time that Caldwell won two or more games at the regional,
matching last year's outcome. The Cougars won the 2004 Northeast Region
Tournament and advanced to the Women's College World Series.
