USP TOPS CALDWELL IN WOMEN'S TENNIS

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Caldwell College women's tennis team lost to the University of the Sciences, 5-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual Sunday afternoon at McNeil Field Courts. The match marks the end of the CACC schedule for the Cougars, who are 1-9 overall and 1-7 in league play. USP improves to 4-7 overall, 4-4 CACC.

All six matches contested used pro set scoring, with the Devils winning both doubles matches and three out of four in singles. The lone Caldwell victory came at third singles, where senior Sunmarie Allen (Newark, NJ) defeated Nicole D'Ascenzo, 8-1. It was Allen's second consecutive singles win.

COUGAR WOMEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS POST FOR FIRST VICTORY

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season, beating Post University 6-3 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual Wednesday afternoon at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts. The victory gives the Cougars a 1-8 record overall and a 1-6 mark in conference play. Post falls to 1-6, 0-4 CACC.

Caldwell won at first and second doubles to take a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Sophomore Olga Ndhlovu (Bergenfield, NJ/Bergenfield) and freshman Danielle Levasseur (Eastport, NY/Eastport South) combined at No. 1 doubles to defeat Ashley Gorelik and Diana Hayden, 8-6. Senior Brittni Frantellizzi (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) and junior Kirsty Leedham (Ellesmere Port, England/Cheshire Acad.) won at No. 2 doubles over Leah McQueeney and Kelsey Lengyel-Jacovich, 8-3.

In singles, Leedham defeated Lengyel-Jacovich 6-2, 6-2 at fourth singles, while senior Sunmarie Allen (Newark, NJ) and Kierra Tims (East Orange, NJ/Orange) each picked up pro-set victories at fifth and sixth singles, respectively. Ndhlovu outlasted Gorelik at No. 1 singles, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.

Next up for Caldwell is a non-conference match against Molloy College on Friday, Oct. 9, starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts.

CALDWELL WOMEN'S TENNIS LOSES AT PHILADELPHIA

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Caldwell College women's tennis squad dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual to Philadelphia University, 9-0 Wednesday afternoon in Philadelphia, Pa. The Cougars are now 0-8 overall and 0-6 in the conference, while the Rams improve to 7-4, 3-1 CACC.

Philadelphia received points via walkover at third doubles and sixth singles before winning twice in doubles and taking all five contested singles matches.

Caldwell faces Post University at home on Saturday, Oct. 3. The CACC dual begins at 12:00 p.m. at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Caldwell College women's tennis team fell to Chestnut Hill College, 9-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual Tuesday afternoon at Chestnut Hill. The defeat keeps the Cougars winless on the season at 0-7 overall and 0-5 in the CACC, while the Griffins improve to 1-8 overall, 1-3 CACC.

Chestnut Hill won both contested doubles matches by identical scores of 8-4, then swept the five singles matches in straight sets. The Griffins also received points at sixth singles and third doubles via walkover.

The Cougars host Philadelphia University in another CACC dual on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts.

CALDWELL WOMEN'S TENNIS DROPS CACC DUAL AT HOLY FAMILY

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Caldwell College women's tennis team lost to Holy Family University, 9-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual Saturday afternoon at the Torresdale-Frankford Country Club. The Cougars are now 0-6 overall and 0-4 in the conference while Holy Family improves to 3-2, 2-1 CACC.

After sweeping the doubles matches, the Tigers won the first four singles matches in straight sets before taking pro-set victories at fifth and sixth singles.

Caldwell takes to the courts on Tuesday, Sept. 29, when they play at Chestnut Hill College.

GOLDEY-BEACOM SWEEPS COUGARS IN WOMEN'S TENNIS

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's tennis team fell to Goldey-Beacom College, 9-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual Thursday afternoon at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts. The loss keeps the Cougars winless on the season at 0-5 (0-3 CACC), while the Lightning are now 5-0 overall, 2-0 CACC.

The matches used pro-set scoring, with Goldey-Beacom losing just five games in singles and doubles. The Lightning also received points at fifth and sixth singles and third doubles via walkover.

The Cougars play a CACC dual at Holy Family University on Saturday, Sept. 26, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's tennis team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual to Georgian Court University, 9-0 Tuesday afternoon at the Ellen Mullane Gallagher Tennis Center. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in league play, while the Lions improve to 2-4, 2-1  CACC.

The closest match was at No. 2 singles, where senior Brittni Frantellizzi (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) took Natalie Grieci to three sets before falling, 4-6, 6-4, 12-10. Georgian Court also received points via walkover at third doubles and sixth singles.

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's tennis team fell to St. Thomas Aquinas College, 9-0 in a non-conference dual Saturday afternoon at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts. The result gives the Cougars an overall record of 0-3, while the Spartans improve to 1-3.

St. Thomas Aquinas swept the doubles matches by identical 8-3 scores, then took straight-set wins in the first three singles matches. The Spartans also earned pro set victories at fourth and sixth singles and received an injury default at fifth singles.

The Cougars face Georgian Court University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual on Tuesday, Sept. 22 in Lakewood, N.J.

CALDWELL FALLS TO CONCORDIA IN WOMEN'S TENNIS

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's tennis team was shut out by Concordia College, 9-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual Wednesday afternoon at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts. The contest marked the first conference dual of the season for the Cougars, who are 0-2 overall. The Clippers, who advanced to the national quarterfinals last spring, improve to 2-0 in the CACC and overall.

Concordia received points via walkover at third doubles and sixth singles before winning twice in doubles and taking all five contested singles matches.

Next up for Caldwell is a non-conference dual at home against St. Thomas Aquinas College. The dual begins at 12:00 p.m. at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts.

WOMEN'S TENNIS OPENS SEASON WITH LOSS TO EAST STROUDSBURG

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's tennis squad began the 2009 season with a9-0 loss to East Stroudsburg University in a non-conference dual Tuesday afternoon at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts. The Cougar, who were 2-12 a year ago, open the campaign 0-1, while the Warriors improve to 1-0.

East Stroudsburg surrendered just four games in taking all three doubles matches. In singles, the Warriors won in straight sets at first, second and third singles, and captured pro-set victories at fourth, fifth and six singles.

The Cougars host Concordia College on Wednesday, Sept. 16 in the Cougars' first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference dual of the year. The first match is set to start at 4:00 p.m. at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts.

WOMEN'S TENNIS SELECTED NINTH IN CACC PRESEASON POLL

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College women's tennis squad was ranked ninth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Preseason Poll, the league announced. Conference newcomer Concordia was picked to win the league by the poll, which was voted on by the CACC's nine head coaches.

The Cougars, coached by Bruce Hamburger, return six players from last year's team that placed seventh with a 1-6 record in conference duals. Among the returnees is sophomore Olga Ndhlovu (Bergenfield, NJ/Bergenfield), who was the Cougars' No. 2 singles player last season. Ndhlovu represented Caldwell at the 2008 CACC singles and doubles tournaments.

Caldwell opens its 2009 schedule with a CACC dual with Holy Family on Saturday, Sept. 6. The matches begin at 12:00 p.m. at the Caldwell College Tennis Courts.
