CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College volleyball team lost a Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference match to visiting Dominican College in three
games Monday evening in the George R. Newman Center. The Cougars, who are a
new intercollegiate volleyball program this season, are now 0-4 overall and
in the league, while the Chargers improve to 1-9 overall and 1-3 in the CACC.
Despite losing the three games by scores of 30-17, 30-20 and 30-19, the
Cougars set season highs with 20 kills, 16 assists and 40 digs. Junior
Amy Ransom (Chattanooga, TN/Notre Dame) led the way with 11 kills, while
sophomore Laura Ciesla (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) recorded 14 assists.
Defensively, Ransom and sophomore Laura DeVico (Hackensack,
NJ/Hackensack) both reach double figures in digs with 13 and 10,
respectively. Sophomore Ashley Cusack (Belmar, NJ/St. Rose) had a
season-best three block assists.
Dominican was led by Kinikia Collier, who had 11 kills, and Kaitlin Earl,
who recorded 33 assists to help the Chargers hit .255 for the match.
The Cougars travel to Bloomfield, N.J., on Wednesday, Sept. 20 to face
Bloomfield College in another CACC match. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
