COUGARS WIN FIRST GAME BUT FALL TO FELICIAN

CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College volleyball team won its first game of
its inaugural season but lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match
to Felician College, 3-1 Wednesday evening at the George R. Newman Center.
After losing the first game 30-13, the Cougars won game two 30-21 before
losing 30-21, 30-28. Caldwell is now 0-11 overall and 0-10 in the CACC,
while Felician is 2-11, 2-8 CACC.
The Cougars led the entire way in game two, snapping a string of 10 shutout
matches. After falling 30-21 in game three, the Cougars battled to force a
fifth game, tying the Golden Eagles at 28-28 after trailing 26-21. But
Felician held on and served for the final two points and the victory.
Senior Amy Ransom (Chattanooga, TN/Notre Dame) tallied a team-best 13
kills and sophomore Laura Ciesla (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) had 22
assists and seven kills to help the Cougars record a season-high 36 kills.
Defensively, sophomore Laura DeVico (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) had
23 digs, while Ransom added 21 digs for Caldwell. Felician was led by
LaKeisha Milstrey and Laura Peskosky, who had 27 and 22 kills, respectively.
Nicole Degenhardt tallied 37 assists, with Suzanne Albert recording 26 digs.
Next up for Caldwell is a CACC match at Wilmington College on Saturday, Oct.
7. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in New Castle, Del.
