COUGARS DEFEAT GRIFFINS FOR FIRST ROAD VICTORY

Pa. - The Caldwell College volleyball team earned its first victory on the
road with a 3-0 win over Chestnut Hill College in a Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference match Saturday afternoon at Sorgenti Arena. The
Cougars won the match 30-18, 30-7, 30-20 to end an eight-match losing streak
and improve to 2-22 overall and 2-11 in conference play. The defeat leaves
the Griffins winless at 0-14 overall and in the CACC.
Freshman middle blocker Keesha Francois (Elkins Park, PA/Cheltenham)
recorded a team-high 11 kills with one error in 19 attempts for an
outstanding .526 hitting percentage. The Cougars hit .392 for the match with
only eight errors, both season bests. Freshman setter Kendra Kane
(Secaucus, NJ/Lacordaire) contributed 23 assists to the offense, while
junior libero Laura DeVico (Maywood, NJ/Hackensack), pictured, had 12 digs to
pace the defense. Chestnut Hill, which joined the CACC this fall, was led by
Lisa Doria and Marianne Finfrock with five kills each.
The Cougars return home for a CACC match against Post University on
Thursday, Oct. 25. The match begins at 7:00 p.m. in the George R. Newman
Center.
