USP DEFEATS COUGARS IN CACC VOLLEYBALL MATCH

N.J. - The Caldwell College volleyball team fell to the University of the
Sciences, 30-28, 30-18, 30-24 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
match Saturday afternoon in the George R. Newman Center. The result gives
the Cougars a 1-20 overall record, including a 1-9 mark in the conference,
while the Devils improve to 11-11, 5-4 CACC.
The Cougars trailed in Game 1 throughout but held off the Devils for three
game points before falling 30-28. After losing the second game 30-18,
Caldwell held the lead for almost the entire game. But with the score 24-23
in favor of the Cougars, USP reeled off seven straight points to clinch the
set and the match. Freshman middle blocker Keesha Francois (Elkins
Park, PA/Cheltenham) matched her season high with 11 kills to lead the
Cougar offense. Defensively, freshman Kathleen Estes (Lyndhurst,
NJ/Lyndhurst) also matched her career high with 16 digs, while junior
Laura Ciesla (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) had 15 digs. Cady Rich paced the
Devils with 10 kills, with Claire Tauschek recording 20 digs in the victory.
The Cougars continue CACC play with a home match against Bloomfield College
on Tuesday, Oct. 16. The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the
Newman Center.
