ALAO SELECTED CACC VOLLEYBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
10-6-08
CALDWELL,
N.J. - Caldwell College freshman middle blocker Titilola Alao (Ossining,
NY/Ossining) was named the Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference Volleyball co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending
Oct. 5, the CACC announced today. Alao averaged 2.45 kills per set and had
0.91 blocks per set as the Cougars went 2-2 last week.
Alao played an important role in Caldwell's five-set victory over Molloy
College on Thursday, Oct. 2, recording 17 kills and a .394 hitting
percentage while tallying five total blocks. The performance helped the
Cougars come back from a 2-1 deficit to beat the Lions for the second time
this season. She also had five kills apiece in losses to Bloomfield College
and Georgian Court University, which currently lead the CACC North and South
divisions, respectively. For the week, Alao turned in a hitting percentage
of .288. On the season, she leads the Cougars in hitting percentage (.259)
and total blocks (39).
Alao is the third Caldwell freshman to receive a weekly honor from the CACC, as
right side Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) was last week's
Rookie of the Week, and setter
Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) was named the conference's Player
of the Week on Sept. 22.
Alao and the Cougars will host Felician College in a CACC North match-up on
Thursday, Oct. 9. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the George R.
Newman Center.
