FOUR RECRUITS TO JOIN COUGAR VOLLEYBALL IN 2008

7-9-08
CALDWELL, N.J. - The Caldwell College volleyball team will welcome four student-athletes to the program this fall, head coach Megan Hrbek announced. The incoming group includes middle blocker Titilola Alao of Ossining, N.Y., outside hitter Elise Lennon of Secaucus, N.J., right side hitter Amber Mosher of Flanders, N.J., and setter Lauren Roth of Findlay, Ohio. They will join 10 returning players from last year's squad that went 4-24 in its second season of intercollegiate play.

"This class fills some of our needs while increasing the talent level of our team," Hrbek said. "All four student-athletes are dedicated players who understand the commitment it takes to be on a winning team, and they will play important roles in our program's development. I'm looking forward to incorporating them into our group this fall."

Alao earned all-Section and all-League honors as a junior and senior at Ossining High School. A 5-foot-10 middle blocker, Alao was included on the Volleyball Coaches Association Super 70 Select Team last fall. She also was selected her team's Most Valuable Player while playing for Downstate Juniors Volleyball Club in 2007. An excellent student, Alao earned the Superintendent's Scholar Athlete Award as a senior at Ossining.

Lennon teamed with current Cougar outside hitter Cory Roesing (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) to lead Secaucus High School to back-to-back Group I state championships in 2005 and 2006. This past fall, she received Group I All-State third team accolades while earning first team all-Hudson County and all-League honors. As a junior, Lennon was selected to the all-League and all-County second teams.

Mosher led Mount Olive High School in kills, blocks and digs as a junior and senior while setting school records for kills and blocks in a career. A two-time all-Iron Hills Conference selection, Mosher was included on the Star-Ledger all-Morris County first team in 2007 after making the second team in 2006. She also was named all-Area by the Daily Record as a junior and senior. This past season, Mosher played in the New Jersey Senior All-Star Game.

Roth comes to Caldwell from Premier Volleyball Club, where Hrbek coached for two seasons before launching Caldwell's volleyball program in 2006. Roth was named to the all-Greater Buckeye Conference second team in 2006 and received all-conference honorable mention in 2007 at Findlay High School. She was the starting setter on the Trojans' back-to-back conference championship teams as a junior and senior. In 2006, she received the Golden Hands Award from Premier.

The Cougars begin the 2008 season on Sept. 2 at Southern Connecticut State in New Haven, Conn.
