N.J. - Caldwell College freshman setter
Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) was named the Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending
Sept. 21, the league announced today. Roth is Caldwell's first volleyball
player to receive the CACC's top weekly honor after helping the Cougars win
a pair of matches last week.
Roth led the Cougars to a 3-1 victory over CACC opponent Dominican College
on Wednesday, dishing out 34 assists while recording a team-best 17 digs and
four service aces. Then against Molloy College, Roth set a career high with
39 assists to help Caldwell record a season-high 52 kills in a four-set
victory over the Lions. Roth also had two aces and seven digs in the win,
which was Caldwell's first over a non-conference opponent since
re-establishing its volleyball program in 2006. For the week, Roth averaged
9.1 assists and 3.0 digs per set.
Roth and the Cougars host Southern Connecticut State tonight in a
non-conference match at the George R. Newman Center. Game time is set for
7:00 p.m.
