ROTH EARNS SECOND CACC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

10-27-08
CALDWELL, N.J. - Caldwell College freshman setter Lauren Roth (Findlay, OH/Findlay) was chosen the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 26, the conference announced today. This is the second time the CACC has given its top weekly honor to Roth, who averaged 9.75 assists and 3.2 digs per set to help the Cougars win three conference matches last week.

The Cougars started the week with a 3-1 victory at Felician College on Oct. 21, with Roth recording 38 assists, 17 digs and one service ace. Then in a five-set win over Bloomfield College on Oct. 23, Roth dished out a career-high 49 assists to go with 17 digs, seven kills and three blocks. She wrapped up the successful week with 30 assists in a 3-0 triumph over Holy Family University on Oct. 25. The three wins put the Cougars atop the CACC North Division standings and extended their winning streak to six matches.

Roth, who currently ranks third in the conference with 7.83 assists per set in her first collegiate season, was named the CACC Player of the Week on Sept. 22. She is one of three Caldwell freshman to receive weekly awards from the CACC, as right side Amber Mosher (Flanders, NJ/Mount Olive) and middle blocker Titilola Alao (Ossining, NY/Ossining) were named Rookie of the Week earlier this season. The Cougars are now 14-8 overall and 10-2 in the conference.

Roth and the Cougars host Nyack College on Thursday, Oct. 30 in a conference match at the George R. Newman Center. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
